Bring out your tired and dusty old rules and submit your favorite parts so we can glean the best of the old for our efforts with FOW Napoleonics.
I liked the rating value concept of the old Empire 2nd edition rules (1977) ranging from untrained militia to guard. The old matrix of crossindexing value vs value to get the combat % to win melee was a timesaver.
Using 2 d10 to give up to 100% chances for whatever you needed to roll.
I still remember having my French Old Guard fail 2 die tests at 4% or less to fail.

TB,
While I see your angle in the start of this thread, I would like to see what the thoughts are on keeping a few of the rules used in FoW.
I still would like to keep a simpler ranking system such as the one used in FoW.
Conscript - Trained - Veteran and maybe and additional 'Elite' ranking... ???
While I dont quite know how to clearly assign values, I would like to see what the feedback is from those of you who read this. |

My favorite part of Empire V is the "telescoping" scale between Tactical and Grand Tactical.
There are, I'm sure, lots of great parts of different wargaming systems. Unfortunately, none of them seem to provide to Napoleonics what Flames of War brings to the Napoleonic genre; so I'm excited about the idea of something uniquely Flames of War to be applied to that time period.
I would like to see all troops rated along the Fearless/Confident/Reluctant and Veteran/Trained/Conscript lines. I think anything that needs to be illustrated beyond that realm can be done so with special rules (on a need basis as opposed to a want basis). |

Seconded! (or should it be "thirded") Lets keep it simple and as close to FOW as possible.
