The NY Public Library have put online what seems to be the complete Vinkhuijzen collection of military uniform plates. This is an excellent painting guide, and can be found at:

This could save you a fortune in reference books!

I have already spent several hours just perusing my way through it... the man who made the collection must have been quite mad, but in such a useful way!
