This poll tells us how many figures we want to populate our bases. Of course, the more figures we use, the more money we spend. (Well, Duh) However the great attraction to the Napoleonic genre is the spectacle and pagentry of huge masses of men and horses. So how best do we represent that? Are you on a tight budget, and want to use the minimum number possible? Are the numbers not that important as long as you maintain a proper ratio between competing units? ( An Austrian unit with companies 1/3 larger than a French company has 1/3 more figures as well.) A base is a base, and they should all have the same number on them, but enough to 'look nice?' Or are you Cram them in, shoulder to shoulder?

So go ahead and vote, and as always feel free to express your opinions.

I've gone for 6 per base as how the unit looks on the table is the most important to me.

I voted 6-8 to a base (Small or Medium) (That is 6 to a small, or 8 to a medium), 'cos I really think that this gives the right feeling of unit size. I don't think that this period can be played at the 1:1 figure scale, so you need to show that this is a mass of men, not just a small number....

While unit ratios aren't necessarily important to me I am on a budget, I was recently laid off from work and I also attempt to keep my habit under control. Went with the second option.

Also I will point out that I really like the way Evan's French turned out in the Gallery that is how I will be basing my figures. I think that is a good example for us to go by.

I agree, but I am thinking of basing 6 figures on a small FOW base, long edge forward. This gives the same frontage, and also allows me to continue to play 'Shako' with those friends that I cannot convert to NapoFOW. Horses for courses, but yeah, 6 to a base on that frontage.

While I enjoy the "glory" of large units, painting time is the real issue for me. When I look at different county's units, I want them to look different form each other. Other-wise, all the armies will be the same, just different colors!

I'd say 8 per base to make the battle look more "epic" when you play.
